Many owners worry about how their dog might behave during a portrait session or whether they’ll listen as well as they do at home. Please know that there’s absolutely no pressure; every dog is different, and that’s part of what makes them special. You can take your time, enjoy the portraits at your leisure, and appreciate them in the comfort of a familiar setting.
For the reveal session, I aim to keep everything as easy and enjoyable as possible. There’s never any hurry or pressure. I’ll guide you through the process, step by step, so you feel confident as you make your selections. Together, we’ll revisit the special moments from your session. I’ll help you choose the images that stand out and mean the most to you. Using a straightforward ‘yes’, ‘no’, or ‘maybe’ system, you can quickly sort through your favourites and narrow down your final choices. I’ve had the pleasure of working with dogs who are shy, reactive, or even not too keen on men. Every dog brings their own personality and quirks, so I tailor my approach accordingly. Sometimes that means being extra patient, giving them all the space they need, and perhaps even working from a distance until they feel more at ease. It’s all about letting your dog guide the interaction, so we can capture their true character without any pressure.

“My dog can’t be off the lead.”
Your dog’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. If your dog needs to remain on the lead, rest assured that’s absolutely fine. Throughout the session, I’ll guide you with clear instructions to position your dog so that the lead can be easily and seamlessly removed during the retouching process. Modern editing techniques mean the lead will not appear in your final portraits, allowing your pet’s personality to shine without compromise. In fact, it’s much simpler to remove a lead than to attempt to edit a dog back into a photograph, so keeping your dog secure is always the best option.
“My dog won’t sit still.”
Dogs are naturally lively and curious, and I completely understand that some may find it hard to stay in one spot. The beauty of photography is its ability to freeze a moment in time, capturing your dog’s character, movement and energy. I adapt to your dog’s pace, working swiftly or patiently as needed, so there’s no pressure to “perform” or stay still for long periods.
